2014లో నా పుస్తక పఠనం

జంపాల చౌదరి గారి స్ఫూర్తి తో నేను కూడా నేను గత ఏడాది చదివిన పుస్తకాల గురించి ఓ చిన్న నోట్ రాసుకుందాం అని నిర్ణయించుకున్నాను. ఈ ఏడాది లో నేను చదివిన ఏకైక తెలుగు పుస్తకం “కొసరు కొమ్మచ్చి”. ఈ పుస్తకం లోని వ్యాసాలు అన్నీ, ప్రధానంగా ఎం.బీ.యస్.ప్రసాద్ గారి వ్యాసం నన్ను చాలా ఆకట్టుకున్నాయి.

నవలలు:

-Marina Lewycka. రెండో పుస్తకం అక్కడక్కడా నవ్వు తెప్పించినా అంతగా ఆకట్టుకోలేదు.

* The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo
* The Girl who played with fire
* The Girl who kicked the Hornet’s nest
-Steig Larsson (Millenium Trilogy అని పిలవబడే Swedish నవలలు, ఆంగ్లానువాదంలో చదివాను)

* The Weird Sisters – Eleanor Brown
షేక్స్పియర్ రచనలతో పరిచయం ఉన్నవాళ్ళకి బాగా నచ్చవచ్చు. నాకు పరిచయం లేదు కాని, కథన శైలి నచ్చింది. కథ పర్వాలేదు.

సినిమా చూసి నవల చదివాను. టీనేజి ప్రేమకథ. ఆహా, ఓహో, అనలేను కానీ బాగుంది.

* Revolutionary Road – Richard Yates

* Dark Places
* Sharp Objects
–Gillian Flynn. మొదటి నవల చదివి నా ఫ్రెండు నాకు చెబితే, తక్కిన రెండూ నేను చదివి తప్పక చదవమని ఆమెకి సూచించాను 🙂 ఈ ఏడాది నన్ను బాగా ఆకట్టుకున్న రచయిత్రి ఈవిడే ఏమో (గ్రాఫిక్ పుస్తకాలలో అలా ఆకట్టుకున్నది Jason).

* The Oxford Murders – Guillermo Martínez. ఇద్దరు గణిత శాస్త్రవేత్తలు కలిసి పరిష్కరించే మిస్టరీ కథ. బాగుంది పుస్తకం.

* Professor Martens’ Departure – Jaan Kross

ఆత్మకథలు/జీవిత చరిత్రలు:
* G.V.Chalam – R.S.Sudarsanam : పుస్తకం నన్నంతగా ఆకట్టుకోలేదు. అక్కడక్కడా ఒకటీ అరా జీవిత విశేషాలు ఉన్నాయి కానీ, ఇది నాకు జీవిత చరిత్రలా కాక సాహిత్య విశ్లేషణలా అనిపించింది.
* Autobiography of a Yogi – Paramahamsa Yogananda
* Changing – Liv Ullmann
* Shadows in the Sun: Healing from Depression and Finding the Light Within – Gayathri Ramprasad

ఈ పుస్తకాలు రెండూ టీనేజి పిల్లలకి కానుకగా ఇచ్చెండుకు బాగుంటాయి. సైన్సు పుస్తకం ఫిలాసఫీ పుస్తకానికంటే బాగా రాసినట్లు అనిపించింది.

– Jason. ఎక్కువ మాటల్లేకుండా, విచిత్రమైన Anthropomorphic పాత్రలతో చెప్పే కథలు నాకు చాలా నచ్చాయి.

* A Contract with God and other stories – Will Eisner

-రెండు పుస్తకాలూ చాలా ఆసక్తికరంగా, చదివించేలా ఉన్నాయి. మొదటి పుస్తకంతో పోలిస్తే రెండోది నచ్చింది. ఈ పుస్తకాల గురించి నేను పుస్తకం.నెట్లో రాసిన వ్యాసం ఇక్కడ. Bryson ఇతర రచనల గురించి పుస్తకం.నెట్లో వచ్చిన వ్యాసాలు ఇక్కడ.
* The Emperor of all Maladies: A Biography of Cancer – Siddhartha Mukherjee
* Light of Asia: Indian Silent Cinema 1912-1934
* Letters to a Young Scientist – Edward O.Wilson – కొన్ని ఉత్తరాలు బాగున్నాయి. కొన్ని ఆ రంగంలో పనిచేసేవారికి తప్ప ఉపయోగపడవేమో అనిపించింది.
* The Education of a British-Protected Child: Essays – Chinua Achebe – చాలా బాగుందీ పుస్తకం!
* The Communist Manifesto – Karl Marx

నాటకాలు, సినిమా స్క్రిప్టులు వగైరా:
* స్వీడిష్ సినిమా దర్శకుడు ఇంగ్మర్ బెర్గ్మన్ రాసిన స్క్రిప్టులు – The Seventh Seal, Persona, Face to Face, Shame. వీటిలో మొదటి మూడు ఇదివరలో చదివినవే. మళ్ళీ చదివాను.

* The Mountain Top – Katori Hall
* Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf – Edward Albee (మరీ నెగటివ్ గా ఉండటంతో పూర్తిచేయలేకపోయాను)
