2013 Reading list: Krishna Shastri Devulapalli

Krishna Shastri Devulapalli is the author of novels, Jump Cut and Ice Boys in Bell Bottoms. He is also a cartoonist, children’s illustrator and graphic designer.   3. Writing Octopus (poetry) – K. Srilata: Each poem is a lovely compressed version of the poet’s heart
  4. Adrift (narrative non-fiction) – V. Sudarshan: A real-life sea adventure set in the Andamans
  5. Idris: Keeper of the Light (historical fiction) – Anita Nair: a tale about a Somalian trader set in 17th century coastal south India
  6. Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro: Seriously Funny Since 1983 (on film) – Jai Arjun Singh: an insightful book about an iconic film
  7. Our Moon Has Blood Clots: The Exodus of the Kashmiri Pandits (memoir) – Rahul Pandita: an unflinching and heartbreaking account of forced exile.
  8. The Weight Loss Club (novel) – Devapriya Roy: a gentle, humorous book set in Calcutta
  9. A Southern Music: The Karnatic Story – T M Krishna: a rule-breaker’s take on the world south Indian classical music
